Frequently asked questions

A few reassuring notes

It is not only the flexible who practice yoga. Most people start with rather stiff and
inflexible bodies and flexibility comes gradually with practice. Staying focused and
moving whilst breathing is more important than flexibility.

Class content

The style of yoga I practice and teach is referred to as classical or typical Hatha Yoga.
Each yoga class is structured consisting of a combination of three elements:

  1. Asanas postures, stretching exercises
  2. Pranayama, breathing exercises, and deep relaxation
  3. Nidra or Raja yoga, meditation and/or visualisation techniques

Each of these elements is practiced in every class but time devoted to one or the other varies according to the individual or group.

Relaxation is achieved through guided awareness of body and breath or visualisation
journeys. This will help to alleviate mental stress leaving one feeling refreshed,
relaxed, calm, positive and clear headed.

Throughout the class postures (asanas) are interspersed and linked with breathing exercises (pranayama) and relaxation.

Q. What clothing do I wear for yoga classes?
It is best to wear loose comfortable clothing which allows for unrestricted movement.
Ladies with long hair are encouraged to tidy their hair away from the face to maximise comfort. Socks and a jacket or fleece to keep the body warm at the beginning and
end of class.

Q. Do I need to bring a yoga mat?
If you require a mat, we have portable ones for sale at £20 each otherwise it would be advisable to bring your own mat.

Q. I have a medical condition, can I still do Yoga?
If you have any symptoms including high or low blood pressure, detached retina,
you are strongly encouraged to seek your GP’s advice before starting Yoga.
If necessary, I may need to seek your GP’s input.

Q. I am pregnant, can I do Yoga?
It is advisable to begin Yoga after the first trimester if you are a complete beginner,
ideally with your GP’s approval.

Q. If I cannot attend a class and give due notice in advance, will I get a refund?
Sorry, no refunds are given. However, depending on availability, I will do my best to arrange a replacement class.

Q. Can I combine doing Yoga with a Treatment session after?
Depending on availability at the time of booking, this would be up to 90 mins
per session per person. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.

Q. Why do I need a consultation for Treatments?
This will be helpful to help me establish root causes for any symptoms and tailor your
individual treatment holistically. In some cases, I may need to consult your GP
before treatment.
